A landowner, at least one of whom works in the oil industry, acts as an intermediary between exploration companies and landowners. Landowners are typically tasked with negotiating and finalizing contracts with landowners who hold mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. They essentially manage the land and secure the leases so that oil and gas can be drilled. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, set up worker quarters (man camps), supervise the assembly of earthmoving equipment, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations. For a man so focused on his goals, the inclusion of an emotionally unstable, circus-like woman completely undermines the show’s purpose. Her character seems to disrupt the central narrative and create unnecessary chaos rather than support his journey. The portrayal doesn’t enhance the plot, but rather makes it difficult to take his determination and focus seriously. Likewise, the roles of his wife and daughter don’t seem to fit within the series. The wife seems emotionally unstable, while the daughter lacks intellectual depth, making her contribution to the plot insignificant. The daughter’s portrayal feels particularly shallow, with her character offering little more than a superficial engagement that adds no value to the story. Furthermore, having these characters constantly strut around in provocative outfits, seemingly for no other purpose than to draw viewers in, seems out of place with the show’s tone. This approach comes across as a superficial attention-grabbing tactic rather than enhancing the plot or character dynamics. It’s a strange and unnecessary addition that detracts from the overall quality of the narrative.
